Professor Wong Kwok hsien, Bachelor of Chemistry, PhD, and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, University of Hong Kong.
Currently serving as Vice President (Education), Professor of Applied Chemistry, and Lecture Professor of Chemical Technology at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Formerly a postdoctoral researcher at the California Institute of Technology in the United States, a forensic chemist at the Hong Kong Government Laboratory, a lecturer, professor, and chair professor in the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology at the Hong Kong Polytechnic Institute, a visiting professor in the Department of Chemistry at McGill University, the dean of the School of Applied Science and Textile, and the associate vice president of the Polytechnic University (research support), as well as the vice chairman of the expert group of local research institutions designated by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Innovation and Technology Department.
He was awarded the Patrick S.C. Poon professorship in 2013. Professor Huang is also the director of the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Biology and Drug Research and Development at the University of Science. His research focuses on chemical synthesis, chemical biology and drug discovery.
Professor Huang's research fields include electrochemistry, green chemistry, biosensors and antibiotic development. Published over 240 papers in international SCI journals and holds 5 international patents. Many of his works have been highlighted by Chemistry and Engineering News of American Chemical Society, analytical chemistry and Asian Materials of Nature Publishing Group. He has been invited to deliver plenary meetings, keynote speeches, and guest speeches at various international and regional conferences. In 2013, Professor Huang was awarded the Second Prize in Natural Science by the Ministry of Education of the Chinese government for his work in the development of biosensors.
